Protein Data Bank (RCSB PDB)
The archive of experimentally determined biomolecular structures.
wwPDB / RCSB PDB
What it does
Primary structure archive. Input: a PDB ID or search query; output: experimentally determined coordinates and metadata - the source of your target structure and of nearly every training set in this list.
Commercial use
Commercial use OKLicence as writtenCC0 1.0 Universal (archive data)
The RCSB usage policy page states the wwPDB policy makes PDB archive data files available under CC0 1.0, as is data from RCSB programmatic APIs. RCSB software products are separately under MIT or Apache-2.0.
The licence read at the source allows use by a company. Attribution or copyleft conditions may still apply — read the note.
Is commercial use free of charge?
Free for commercial useFree, CC0: no fee, no attribution requirement (citation is requested as courtesy). Bulk download via FTP/rsync is open.
Price and rights are separate: this panel is about money, the panel above is about permission.
When to use it
The ground truth for benchmarks, templates and epitope analysis. Coverage is biased to crystallisable, well-behaved proteins and many therapeutic complexes are simply absent.
