PepMLM

Masked-language-model generation of linear peptide binders from target sequence alone.

Chatterjee Lab (Duke / Programmable Biology)

What it does

Generates peptide binders without any structure. Input: the target protein sequence and the desired binder length; output: candidate peptide sequences, produced by masked-token generation conditioned on the target - cheap enough to run on a laptop-class GPU.

Commercial use

Not for commercial use

Licence as writtenModel card declares MIT, but access is gated behind terms that require non-commercial use

A genuine contradiction, read on the date shown: the Hugging Face card for ChatterjeeLab/PepMLM-650M declares license: mit, while the same card's gated-access fields make you tick 'I agree to use this model for non-commercial use ONLY', plus authorship, data-sharing and no-patent conditions. The GitHub repo publishes no LICENSE file at all. Those access terms are what you actually accept to obtain the weights, so treat it as non-commercial until the authors reconcile the two.

The licence limits use to non-commercial purposes; a company needs a separate agreement.

Is commercial use free of charge?

No commercial option at any price

No money changes hands, but the access agreement demands non-commercial use and rights concessions, so there is no commercial path. No commercial licence is offered.

Price and rights are separate: this panel is about money, the panel above is about permission.

When to use it

Fast sequence-only peptide binder ideas when you have no structure at all. The access conditions - no patents on generated sequences, authorship on resulting papers - are disqualifying for most company work; read them before downloading.
